We sure know how to keep ourselves busy at Seoul Young Leaders Club!
Thanks to our mother, Seoul Rotary Club, our members have been attending multiple excellent, engaging, and interactive conferences. We are talking about small-scale to large-scale conferences where Rotarians gather to influence, make plans, and commit to helping others while enjoying dinners and raising glasses for a better world. Let’s stroll along some of our favorite conferences, shall we?
In April this year, the largest district conference was held at the Grand Hyatt. The one-day conference included recognitions to past district governors, awards, introductions to new initiatives and young clubs, commemorations of our own Mr. Bongrak Sohn as a new district 3650 governor, and outstanding art performances well suited for a night of extraordinary celebrations. Seoul Young Leaders Club and Seoul Rotary Club had an exceptional guest and a friend of the club, the K-pop star Mr. Choi Siwon, who came briefly to show support. The night ended with a delicious dinner and lovely round table chats.
Amongst the many conferences was the inauguration of our new mother club president Mrs. Judy Hobday. A true milestone for the club as she became the first of many women to come that will serve as club leaders. In a touching inauguration speech, President Judy vowed to move the club forward while committing herself to serve and allowing others and our club to grow.
Finally, we do not only attend super official events, but we also enjoy ourselves with some classical art. This August, our senior Rotarian and Soprano Cecilia Kim kindly invited the lots of us to her recital, a truly remarkable evening. The ones who could not make it to the recital were invited to a Rotarian fellowship dinner at the US base in Seoul, enjoying a wonderful laidback American dinner and entertainment.
