[Explore the World] Explorers couldn’t hold their excitement on the virtual trip to Zambia & USA

Date: September 17, 2022 Author: Jessica Machado

On Saturday, September 17th, the fourth edition of the Explore the World project took place at Cheongshinho Myeondong, and we took our little explorers on a virtual trip to Zambia and the United States.

    Explorers dancing with Zambia’s ambassadors

The first stop of our virtual trip was in the United States. Ambassador Bryan, along with interpreter Minji, both members of SYLC, presented some curiosities about the country, such as famous cities, weather, holidays, tourist attractions, and much more. As usual in our projects, the kids tasted the dessert prepared by Ambassador Justin, called Fluffernutters. Afterward, the children made handmade bags and played the popular traditional game Cornhole. To celebrate the famous holiday of Halloween which is just around the corner, the kids also played Trick or Treat.

The next destination was Zambia! Ambassadors Chungsil, a member of SYLC, and Christina, an English teacher and Explore the World volunteer, prepare a fun presentation where little explorers learn about the flag, history, cuisine, dress, and much more about the culture of Zambia. Children were able to wear traditional clothes such as Chitenge Headwraps, and taste the delicious Samosa. In the end, the children played Kamushi Kalilalila, and learned traditional and modern dances such as Kalindula and Zedbeats. The kids were so excited that we even had a dance competition at the end.

We thank again the volunteers and embassies that help to make the projects happen. The next countries to be explored will be Australia and Uzbekistan. As our ambassadors are preparing the passports, itineraries, and snacks, check out more photos and videos of the project on our social media Instagram, Facebook, and Linkedin, and don’t forget to follow us to keep updated on our upcoming projects!
