[Explore the World] Last stops of 2022: South Sudan and the UK!

Date: November 19, 2022 Author: Jessica Machado

At the last “Explore the World with SYLC” session of the 2022 year on November 19, the participating children, SYLC members, and volunteers explored South Sudan and the UK under the guidance of the cultural ambassadors.

One of SYLC’s newest members, Yoal Lim Nguen from South Sudan, founder, and CEO of the Lim Nguen Foundation welcomed the explorers with a presentation about the country’s general facts, festivals and celebrations, tourist attractions, popular foods, and traditional games. The children could see a wrestling and blessing demonstration, play the game Foot Race, and learn attitudes that are welcome and others that should be avoided in South Sudan.

The second destination was the UK, and the ambassador and SYLC member Kassandra Talbot showed the unique cultural and traditional assets of the country. The explorers tried some delicious British biscuits, painted and drew British symbols, and also played the children’s game “Cat’s Cradle”.

And with these two amazing virtual trips, the Explore the World 2022 travel season has successfully ended! More trips are being prepared for 2023, so if you’d like to represent your country and/or recommend someone you know to host a session for our project, feel free to reach out to us. The more countries we bring to our children, the bigger world they will see.
